Item Type Definition

You'll use the Item Type Definition option to define unique commercial occurrences and allocate rating posting percentages through the Spot Length Equivalency feature. Item Types must be created before they can be used in the Spot Length Equivalency feature which is accessible from both the Buying Unit Profile Definition and Buying Profile Definition options.

An Item Type can be a specific type of commercial where posted ratings require specific rules. For example, a commercial may be purchased as a 5 second billboard. As a result of this unique spot length and type of commercial, the user may wish to assign 15 percent of the overall posted rating. You could then create an Item Type code of BB and a description of Billboard and then use this Item Type code in the Spot Length Equivalency feature to configure this type of posting adjustment formula and assign it to the Item Type code. You can then use the Item Type code as a shortcut to include the posting adjustment calculation in the Buy Module.

The Item Type functionality also gives users the added flexibility of handling ”non air time” charges without changing the overall performance of the post.
