Ad-ID Fields
The two Ad-ID fields work together. In order to assign an ISCI, the code has to be both Active and Talent Must Not be Released.
Accept or change Ad-ID Active? fields. The Active field must be Y. A N value indicates the advertiser no longer wants to use the commercial or the AE does not like the commercial.
Accept or change the Ad-ID Talent Released? default status of N, meaning that is the talent is still under contract and was not yet released.
When talent/advertiser signs a contract, the talent cannot be in commercials of like product (a non-compete clause, for example, appear in both AB and Miller commercials at same time). This non-compete is generally for 21 months and may affect not only the talent but some folks who work behind the scenes on the commercial. Each time the commercial airs, the talent is able to collect residuals/royalties. And during those 21 months, if the advertiser is not airing the commercial, the talent is still paid a monthly holding fee, recognizing the talent cannot work for another competing product. As long as the commercial is marked as “Not Released,” the non-compete clause is in effect.
When the advertiser releases the talent from the contract the commercial cannot air. When released, Network removes the ISCI code from lookups and entry as if the ISCI were inactive.
Network allows an ISCI code to be switched from active to inactive and back.
Network allows the ISCI to be switched from Not Released to Released and back (advertiser may want to use the commercial later; then contract has to be renegotiated).
